One extended voyage through the Australian Coast was terminated days after the tragic passing of an older woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the group for a rest. The liner sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the ship staff realised the woman was missing.

A large-scale rescue mission discovered her person the following day.

Officials are examining the incident, in coordination with law enforcement and the official investigator.

Head of the shipping company said that travelers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and previous technical problems".

Via official communication, he further stated that passengers would be issued a full refund, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the individuals via private aircraft".

Officials also published an revised statement, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" banning any additional guests from boarding the liner.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the ship in the port city upon its return.

The liner first departed Cairns on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the point of the senior passenger's passing. The tropical location was the opening port on the voyage.

Guests on the ship - who typically pay substantial amounts of currency to join the expedition - were ferried there for a daily excursion with the possibility of trekking or snorkelling.

Family Statement

The child of the elderly passenger said that her family was "shocked and grieved that the vessel left the island after an organised tour without my parent".

In her statement, she portrayed her mother as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a walking organization.

"According to scant information we have been informed, it looks that there was a breakdown of responsibility and common sense," she mentioned.

She further stated that she desired the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have performed that might have preserved Mother's existence".
