Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The movie will feature once again of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
The company has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
